Gray’s Anatomy

In Uncategorized on October 2, 2011 at 11:06 am

To read or not to read? That is the question. I borrowed a book which I fancied for quite some time to see what the fuss is all about. The book was Gray’s Anatomy. This book, or rather, tome, is quite legendary for its comprehensive account of the human anatomy. It runs for more than 2000 pages and it is quite a challenge reading because of its completeness. Every part is described in relation to another part which makes it very difficult to visualize even with the help of three atlases (one paperbound, two soft copies). Even the illustrations do not seem to make it easier because the structures described are not even in the same illustrations. I do not recommend reading this book as the primary anatomy textbook. It could be a good review after studying the topic in another book and this makes it a lot easier understanding the concepts found in the book.

I have been trying to find ebook versions of Gray’s Anatomy 40th edition but I only manage to find a CHM file not a PDF file. The 39th edition, however, has a PDF version which is almost half a gigabyte large. I would really want to own this tome of a book someday. This book would surely be a great read for doctors and especially surgeons. Now, I will go back to studying the textbook and see if I can absorb something within this short span of time. Or maybe I’ll just get some sleep LOL.

Drink from the Cup of the Accursed

In Uncategorized on May 29, 2011 at 2:03 pm

Accursed. That is what I consider myself while in this sorry state. I am currently sick with the most annoying sickness of all time: colds. This sickness is so common that it is almost impossible that you know anyone who did not have a cold ever in his/her life. The common cold is caused by the rhinovirus and, like all viruses, there is no real cure but time and a healthy immune system. No matter how germophobic and paranoid you are (like me), you cannot avoid having a cold at least once a year.

I have tried almost every known precaution such as sanitizing my hand to prevent infection and I consciously avoid people who have the cold but no matter how hard I try to, I still get sick. Since it is a virus, in theory, a vaccine can be made to make a person immune to the virus. However, there are numerous strains of the virus making it impossible to have complete immunity to the effects of cold virus. Social pressure also convinced to stop some bad habits of mine which would leave me exposed to colds. I am just at the second day of infection and I hope that the infection have already reached its peak and it is a downhill for the cold from that point on.

The title of the article comes from the fact that the viruses are so ubiquitous that it is possible to be infected just by drinking from the cup containing the virus. I also have mild pain in the back of my neck and in the edge of my left eye. Dr. House can you help me?

Here are the dates when I was infected with colds:

It’s Hard to Sleep Again

In Uncategorized on November 3, 2010 at 4:06 pm

Yeah. It is.

However, this time it is different. I believe that this time it is not insomnia. Just pure old annoyance at stuff. I do not believe in the psychobabble shit about depression causing insomnia and stuff like that.

I was able to devise an experiment where I tried different variables that cause my sleeplessness. Apparently, the timer in the air conditioning unit is the cause. This timer turns off the aircon after one and a half hours of operation and resumes again for the same amount of time. My body is capable of sensing when the aircon stops and I wake up in the middle of the night, frustrated about what has happened. I got rid of my siesta (afternoon sleep) in order for me to be sleep faster.

Last night, I went to bed at around 11:30 pm. I am still awake by 1 am because I checked the time at the clock when I went down from the bedroom to pee. I next woke up around 5:20 am though I am not sure if I really woke up or my insomnia is just continuing. It does not feel like four hours have elapsed since 1 am. Four hours is a pretty long span of time and if I really am awake for that long amount of time, I could feel it. More probably, I failed to sense that I was asleep and I just remembered the time that I woke up because of mosquito bites which seem to be a linear span of time without breaks in between. At 5:20 am, I cannot take it anymore and I turned on the aircon to drive away the insects. I am quite sure that I fell asleep since I did not feel the aircon’s cool wind (which should have turned on) between 1 am and 5:20 am

I want to go to parties

In Uncategorized on October 29, 2010 at 2:00 am

I want to go to parties.

I look forward mostly to the drinking sessions where copious amounts of alcohol are consumed. The feeling of intoxication is awesome. I do not want to get wasted but to get in the zone between tipsy and wasted which is called the awesome zone. I am restricted by my parents from going to these parties. They do not explicitly forbid me to go but they create situations where it is impossible for me to go such as giving me tasks on the day itself. I am legal so it is not against the law for me to drink alcohol. Alcohol is a social lubricant and it is scientifically proven that drinkers are less likely to suffer health problems than their non-drinking counterparts.

This is related to the reason for having a car. If I possess a car, I will be able to go to these drinking sessions and have fun with my friends. I want to bond with my friends and share stories that are only possible to tell when people are a bit on the wild side already. Alcohol loosens the tongue and it does it best. So we are still talking about drinking not partying. Partying involves grinding to the music of repetitive beats (TUGS TUGS TUGS) and grinding with another person.

This leads us to my third reason for being sad which is meeting with girls (or lack thereof). I usually meet girls at classes but still it is awkward to talk to them about something except the subject. If I am in a party, you really do not have to talk to them so much. You just have to dance with them and grind them in the ass. If you have to talk with them, you can talk about stupid things especially if they are already drunk. If you even manage to talk with them, the loud music will not be much of a help. If you are good enough, you can get laid.

P.S. Last afternoon, I was at the mall, just chilling, when I saw this group of kids (well, young teens) trying their buy their way to purchase alcoholic drinks. They keep pointing to an imaginary person who, I assume, was supposedly commanding them to buy a drink. The woman who was tending the drinks along with two other male employees would not budge and would not give them their drinks.

By the way, the beer woman is really hot. I sometimes go to the mall just to see her ass. She wears these black pants who are so tight that you can see the shape of her legs and ass. I think that she does not wear underwear since there are no panty lines on her pants.

The kids who are trying to buy a drink are dumb. They cannot go out of the mall to have their drink. They can only drink it inside. Doing so could easily alert the guards and they can be put to jail. Also, it is illegal to sell drinks to minors even if someone is asking them do so.
